The Best No-Equipment Home Workout Setup: Your Phone and a Patch of Floor

You don't need a gym, a rack, or even a pull-up bar to get meaningfully stronger. You need four movements, a repeatable structure, and a way to prove to yourself you're progressing. Here's the full setup.

A 15-exercise library that covers your whole body

An effective no-equipment routine needs a push, a lower-body drive, a conditioning movement, and core stability. Hughie covers all four with 15 camera-tracked movements organized into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced tiers:

  • Push — knee push-ups → push-ups → wide push-ups: chest, shoulders, triceps
  • Legs — squats, sumo squats, side lunges, split squats, wall sits, squat jumps: quads, glutes, hamstrings
  • Cardio — jumping jacks, high knees, knee tuck jumps: conditioning and heart rate
  • Core — planks, side bends, knee-to-elbow: stability and midsection strength, no sit-ups required

Every one of them is tracked live with your camera in a bedroom-sized space — and the tier system means a true beginner can build a complete routine without ever touching a movement that feels out of reach.

A week you can actually run

Three sessions, 15–20 minutes each, using Hughie's circuit workouts:

  1. Day A — Strength: 3 rounds of push-ups (near your max, minus 2) + 15 squats + 30-second plank.
  2. Day B — Conditioning: 4 rounds of 30 jumping jacks + 12 squats, short rests.
  3. Day C — Mixed: a program day — use your free AI-generated program to structure it around your level, or build your own with the manual program builder.

Every rep of every round is counted automatically, and circuit workouts chain the movements together so the session flows. No notebook, no counting in your head, no "was that round three or four?"

Weekly, not daily: Hughie's streaks track weekly goals, not daily perfection. Miss Tuesday? Train Wednesday and your streak lives. Consistency systems that survive real life are the ones that work.

Why tracking is the missing piece of home workouts

The reason home training fizzles is rarely the exercises — it's the invisibility of progress. At a gym, the weight on the bar goes up. At home, "I think I did more push-ups than last month?" isn't motivating. Hughie makes home progress visible: set-by-set history, per-exercise stats, calorie estimates, weight tracking, and a companion reward loop — coins from daily challenges, accessories for your puppy — that pays you something today for work whose physical payoff takes weeks.

Home workout FAQ

How much space do I need?

Enough to move with your whole body visible to your propped-up phone. The rule is a middle distance: far enough back to be fully in frame through the whole movement, close enough that the camera can clearly see what you're doing. A bedroom, living room, or hotel room all work.

Is it really free?

Yes for everything in this guide — manual logging is unlimited, live AI tracking includes two free sessions per week, and streaks, challenges, and Hughie himself are all included, plus one AI-generated program to try. The AI builder, Chat with Hughie, and post-workout reviews are Pro features.

Can beginners use it?

Absolutely. Knee push-ups and modest squat targets make the on-ramp gentle, and the AI program builder scales to your experience level.
